Volunteers and Minnehaha Creek Watershed District officials found juvenile (shown here) and adult zebra mussels in almost every area they searched in Lake Minnetonka Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010.
One example of the zebra mussel infestation is seen here on a large native mussel taken from under water near Bracketts Point. The zebra mussels will attach themselves to native mussels, effectively cutting off the native mussel's ability to breathe and eventually killing it.
